César Guarniz, former congressional candidate for País Para Todos and now part of the technical team supporting the candidacy of Roberto Sánchez and Juntos por el Perú for the second round, said that Antauro Humala, who served a sentence for the crimes of the ‘andahuaylazo’, has the right to vote for whoever he wants.
“Mr. Antauro is a citizen like anyone else who has the right to support or vote for whoever corresponds, whoever he wishes. No one can deny him, there is no law that says do not support that person”, he said this Tuesday on the program “At the End of the Day”.

The member of País Para Todos, a party that had Carlos Álvarez as its presidential candidate in the first round, assured that this has been the position Sánchez has taken regarding the support that Antauro Humala has expressed in recent weeks.

On the other hand, he assured that the leadership of his political group has given them the freedom to support any of the candidacies ahead of the second round, despite País Para Todos issuing a statement indicating that institutionally they did not support either Keiko Fujimori or Roberto Sánchez.
When asked about this discrepancy between his support for Sánchez and the stance of not assuming an “institutional endorsement” from his party, Guarniz said he remains affiliated and has not requested leave because he spoke directly with Vladimir Meza, president of País Para Todos.
“Respectfully, we have talked. I have this proposal and he tells me ‘brother, there is freedom for all affiliates and militants to be able to, if on one side continue technically and have knowledge or to go and support such or such candidate, they can do it’”, he indicated.
César Guarniz even said that he does not consider it “convenient” to request leave because his party has left him free to be part of the technical team of Juntos por el Perú. “I am not as a party member, I am as a citizen”.
