The Peruvian calendar not only stands out for its religious commemorations, but also for days of rest that many Peruvians take advantage of to travel to destinations such as Paracas, Máncora or emblematic cities such as Cusco, Arequipa, Trujillo and Cajamarca. These dates, recognized by legislation, also imply labor benefits that seek to reward the effort of workers amidst national celebrations. When is the next holiday of 2026?
According to the national calendar, the next mandatory holiday is June 7, the day of the Battle of Arica and Flag Day. In this way, both public and private sector employees will be able to enjoy a period of rest. Below, we present the other official holidays for 2026.

What is the difference between a non-working day and a holiday?
On days considered holidays, the employee will have to rest and receive their usual remuneration. Although, normally some agree to work on those days, without subsequent compensatory rest, so they are entitled to receive triple pay. Regarding non-working days, it is exclusively for public sector workers in the country.

This day is considered a working day, and compared to a holiday, the hours not worked must be compensated within the following ten days, or on the date determined by the head of each public entity, according to their own needs. Meanwhile, in the private sector, non-working days are voluntary, so it will be up to the employer and employees to agree on how the recovery of hours not worked will be made effective, bearing in mind that, if no agreement is reached, the employer will decide.
