Once the ceremony concludes, both presidents will formally declare the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies constituted, and will convene the sessions in which the executive boards of both parliamentary bodies will be elected for the 2026-2027 Annual Session Period.
The Senior Official, by special request of the Executive Board of the Preparatory Board of Congress, urged political parties that obtained representation in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies for the 2026-2031 parliamentary period to submit, on Friday, July 24, the internal regulations of their respective parliamentary groups.
The elected deputies will be sworn in at another ceremony that will begin at 4 p.m. in the Chamber of Deputies’ Hemicycle.
Senators will be the first to be sworn in and take office at 11 a.m. The event will take place in the Senate Hemicycle.
As the first act, the minutes with the results of the electoral process submitted by the National Elections Jury (JNE), the relevant regulatory norms, and the notice of the formation of the Executive Board of the Preparatory Board of Congress will be read.
According to Congress, the ceremony will be led by the Preparatory Board of Parliament, chaired by Senator Miguel Torres Morales (Fuerza Popular), and will begin at 9:00 a.m.
A total of 60 senators and 130 deputies will be sworn into office after being elected in the 2026 general elections, held between April 12 and 13.
The senators and deputies elected for the 2026-2031 parliamentary period will be sworn into office this Friday, July 24, in different ceremonies that will take place at the Legislative Palace.
