For his part, when directly asked by El Comercio, Pérez Mallqui assured:“I am not detained, they are just taking my statements.”

Chosen to represent the Cusco region, Pérez Mallqui has three convictions, for negligent injury (four years and six months, which he is still serving), for false declaration (1 year and 8 months) and for domestic violence (2 years and 6 months).
