The deputy of Juntos por el Perú, Julián Luis Pérez Mallqui, remains at the police station in the San Miguel district of Lima after being reported for violence.
“We have been informed that the deputy is at the San Miguel Police Station and that is why we are sending a lawyer to go to the place,” said the also Juntos por el Perú deputy, Ernesto Zunini, to El Comercio.

For his part, when directly asked by El Comercio, Pérez Mallqui assured:“I am not detained, they are just taking my statements.”

Background
Chosen to represent the Cusco region, Pérez Mallqui has three convictions, for negligent injury (four years and six months, which he is still serving), for false declaration (1 year and 8 months) and for domestic violence (2 years and 6 months).
According to a report by “Panorama,” the current deputy ran over a mother and her seven-year-old daughter on February 9, 2024, in Pichanaki (Chanchamayo, Junín) and fled the scene.
When captured, the National Police noticed he was drunk. Therefore, he was sentenced for negligent injury and then interned in a prison in Ayacucho, from which he was released after seven months. Currently, he must undergo biometric control every month.
