Lesley Vogel, mother and former representative of Hayden Panettiere, spoke out after the death of the ‘Heroes’ actress, which occurred on Sunday, August 16. Although they were estranged, the producer highlighted her daughter’s talent and pointed out that the entertainment industry can be especially demanding for those who start in it at a young age.
“I think Hayden was an incredibly talented person in many ways and I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry face difficulties. It is a very demanding and challenging industry, and it is not unusual that, unfortunately, they find the wrong path”, Vogel told NBC News.
The actress’s mother also considered that Hayden might have lost her way during the last years of her life.
“I think it becomes very difficult to be true to oneself, and I think Hayden, sadly, lost her way, and I wish it had been different. I wish she had remained true to herself because she had many incredible qualities”, she said.
Vogel also remembered her son Jansen Panettiere, Hayden’s younger brother and actor, who died in 2023 at age 28 due to heart problems.
“I feel that she is with her brother and that they are at peace”, the producer expressed.
Hayden Panettiere’s mother questions her ex-boyfriend
During the interview, Vogel questioned the presence of Brian Hickerson, Hayden Panettiere’s ex-partner, with the actress when she passed away.
The actress’s mother said that her family had tried to keep Hickerson away from Hayden’s life and stated that she planned to talk to a detective due to the suspicions she holds about her daughter’s ex-boyfriend.
“This person in her life, whom we had been keeping away from her for some time, was with her at her death and that was Brian Hickerson”, Vogel stated.
Panettiere and Hickerson met in 2018, after the actress ended her relationship with former boxer Wladimir Klitschko. Their relationship was marked by allegations of violence and abuse.
Hickerson was arrested in 2019 for serious domestic violence. After a new incident reported in 2020, he was sentenced in 2021 to 45 days in jail for two charges of assault against the actress.
Vogel indicated that she has little information about the ongoing investigation but reiterated her questions about Hickerson’s presence with her daughter in her final moments.
