Baena, 18 years old, had to push himself to the limit during two hours and eight minutes of play. The European started better and took the first set, but the Peruvian knew how to react in a very close second set that was decided in the tiebreak.
In that tiebreak, the Peruvian showed greater solidity and precision to win 7-3, which allowed him to force a decisive third set. The momentum was key to changing the course of the match.

Already in the final set, Baena quickly took the lead by going up 4-1. Although Sloboda tried to react and closed the gap to 4-3, the Peruvian kept calm and closed the match 6-3, securing his qualification to the second round.
In the next stage, the Peruvian will face Frenchman Ferdinand Livet Novkirichka, aiming to continue advancing in the Parisian tournament.
