Senator Silvana Robles (Juntos por el Perú) vehemently denied having given her vote to Fujimorism in the election of Miguel Torres as president of the Senate and much less having committed “treason,” as denounced by the opposition coalition made up of the parties Juntos por el Perú, Ahora Nación, Obras and the Partido del Buen Gobierno.

In statements to journalists, she indicated that due to an “oversight” she did not show her ballot with the direction of her vote before depositing it in the ballot box and attributed the accusation to the “machinations of Fujimorism”.

“I vehemently reject having given my vote to Fujimorism. Due to a simple oversight, I put my ballot in the (ballot box). I have denounced from the beginning that the fact that the press was not allowed in lends itself to the machinations of Fujimorism so that they can potentially mark a ballot,” she expressed.
Robles said she did not hear the version of Daniel Barragán, the other candidate for the presidency of the Senate, regarding an alleged “treason” and questioned the left dividing over a “ruse” by Fuerza Popular.

“To presume such a situation, given my history against the nefarious Fujimorism, is a clear insult to my political stance,” stated Robles Araujo.
“I have not heard Senator Barragán’s version, but I truly rule it out in every way. It would be disastrous for the left to divide over a ruse that I do attribute to Fujimorism,” she concluded.

Subsequently, on her “X” account (formerly Twitter), Silvana Robles affirmed that she voted for Daniel Barragán’s list 2 and asked to set aside speculations.

“My vote was for List 2. Given the speculations, during the second vote I did not show my vote due to a simple oversight. My decision was clear. Those who know my convictions know that I would never have voted for Fujimorism to preside over the Senate’s Board of Directors,” she asserted.

As a reminder, the representatives of the opposition coalition made up of Juntos por el Perú, Ahora Nación, Obras and the Partido del Buen Gobierno, who participated in the election of the Senate’s Board of Directors, described the voting result that allowed the election of Senator Miguel Torres as president of the Upper House as an act of “treason.”
Barragán even added that, after the vote, all members of the coalition publicly showed their ballots, except for one legislator, although he specified that he did not have evidence to directly hold her responsible.

“Everyone showed their vote, except one person. She (Silvana Robles) is the one who did not show it. Draw your own conclusions. I have no proof, I cannot say it is her,” he affirmed.
