Who will be able to collect the S/ 700 from Pension 65? This is what is known about the announced increase

The Executive has officially announced a historic increase in the financial assistance aimed at the elderly population in vulnerable situations. This measure seeks to reformulate the scope of social programs to provide greater financial stability to the most unprotected sectors of the country. Below we tell you all the details about how this increase will be applied, the beneficiary groups, and the main guidelines provided during the recent message to the Nation given by President Keiko Fujimori.

Who are the beneficiaries that will receive the new bimonthly amount of 700 soles?

Within the framework of the official announcements, the Government confirmed that the economic subsidy of the social program will be progressively increased to alleviate the cost of living for the sectors most affected by the crisis.

The measure is specifically aimed at older adults who are formally classified as living in poverty and extreme poverty throughout the national territory.

In this regard, during her speech to the nation, the president detailed: “We will start by doubling the amount of Pensión 65, from S/ 350 bimonthly to S/ 700 bimonthly for older adults in extreme poverty”. With this change, the aim is to double the historic amount that was previously delivered and allow households with greater precariousness to have a more solid financial support to cover basic needs.

“Caring for experience”: The pillars of the new State Policy announced

As part of the new administration guidelines, a line of action has been established aimed at guaranteeing a dignified life for elderly citizens through a formalized strategy.

On this point, the President of the Republic elaborated in her official message by stating: “We will establish a third State Policy that promotes the Comprehensive Protection of the Elderly, which we will call “Caring for experience,” guaranteeing timely health care, accompaniment, economic security, integration spaces, and a dignified life”. This comprehensive plan seeks to go beyond the simple delivery of cash, ensuring that physical, mental, and emotional well-being is a constant priority within the State’s public policies.

Progressive coverage strategy and deployment of mobile brigades in rural areas

To ensure that the expansion of the economic benefit effectively reaches those who need it most without falling into geographic exclusions, the authorities announced the implementation of field operations nationwide.

In line with this social inclusion goal, it was specified that the mobile affiliation brigades will be responsible for deploying directly to rural areas, high Andean regions, Amazonian communities, and border areas. In this way, the State seeks to decentralize care and facilitate the registration of those citizens who, due to distance or lack of connectivity, have historically had greater difficulties accessing assistance programs and regularly collecting their subsidies.
