Ombudsman requests speed in Naldy Saldaña's complaint against former musical director of La Bella Luz

The Ombudsman’s Office called for speed from the Peruvian justice system in the case reported by Naldy Saldaña, former lead singer of La Bella Luz, against César Sánchez, former musical director of the group, for alleged inappropriate touching and attempted sexual assault during a rehearsal.

Saldaña reported on Monday on the program ‘Magaly TV La Firme’ that Sánchez allegedly touched her without her consent on June 18, while she was rehearsing with the orchestra. The singer said she had to struggle to get away from the former musical director.

Security footage shared on social media shows the moment Sánchez allegedly grabbed Saldaña and made inappropriate touches, while she tried to move away from him.

In this regard, the Ombudsman’s Office urged the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police of Peru to carry out the corresponding procedures with a gender perspective, as well as to implement the necessary protection measures to guarantee the complainant’s integrity.

For its part, the Public Ministry reported that the Third Specialized Corporate Prosecutor’s Office on Violence against Women and Family Group Members of San Juan de Lurigancho opened a preliminary investigation against Sánchez for the alleged crime of touching, acts of a sexual nature or lewd acts without consent.

Provincial prosecutor Leonor Azañeda reported that Saldaña’s statement has already been received and that requests were made to collect recordings from the venue where the events allegedly occurred, as well as the statement of the accused. She also confirmed that protection measures were granted in favor of Naldy.
