Shakira dedicates powerful message to Colombia after strong earthquake: “My heart is with everyone”

The Colombian singer Shakira spoke out after the earthquake that shook her home country and expressed her solidarity with the affected people. This Monday, August 10, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Colombia, causing damage in different cities and leaving fatalities.

Through her official Instagram account, the singer expressed her concern for the people who experienced this difficult moment and shared a message of solidarity, joining the shows of support that began circulating on social media after the earthquake.

“Dear Colombia, my heart is with all those who felt this earthquake today and with the families going through moments of anguish”, she wrote in the first lines of her statement shared in her Instagram stories.

The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) located the earthquake 20 kilometers from San José del Palmar, in Chocó, and specified that the event occurred at 7:34:29 a.m. (local time in Colombia).

Among the hardest-hit areas are Risaralda and Valle del Cauca, although the effects of the earthquake extended to different parts of the country such as Pereira, Cali, Manizales, Quibdó, Armenia, and Bogotá.

The magnitude of the disaster forced authorities to coordinate emergency actions and ask the population to remain alert to the possibility of new aftershocks.
