Thus, he referred to the increase in the minimum wage, an announcement made by President Keiko Fujimori during her Address to the Nation on July 28.
Cuba specified that the Government will raise the minimum living wage in two stages. The first increase would be S/100 and the second S/70, with the accumulated increase reaching S/170.
“We will handle it in two stages. We will split the increase into two moments: one first, possibly 100 soles, and the other 70,” he said. He explained that the gradual application seeks to improve the purchasing power of workers and avoid adverse effects on employment and costs borne by companies.
He announced that the Government will announce within two months the schedule to apply the increase in the minimum living wage. The measure will be coordinated with the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion and discussed in the National Labor Council. “We will announce it in exactly two months,” Cuba said.
