The Lima International Book Fair 2026 closed its edition with figures that confirm its importance as one of the main cultural events in the country. More than 400 thousand visitors toured its spaces and sales exceeded 18 million soles. Amid this publishing movement, El Comercio also found a way to reconnect with its readers: 14,445 people printed for free the historic front page of the newspaper corresponding to the day of their birth.

The initiative, which this year celebrated its fourth edition, turned El Comercio’s booth into a small meeting point between memory and the present. Visitors scanned a QR code, registered their birth date in a digital form, and received the commemorative front page showing the news published that day.
This relationship between readers and content was also present in the five Sunday Cafés organized by El Dominical. The first focused on the Peruvian economy with the conversation “A new cycle for the Peruvian economy? Challenges and priorities for the incoming government,” led by Víctor Fuentes, Public Policy Manager at the Peruvian Institute of Economics, and moderated by Paola Villar, Deputy Editor of Economy and Day at El Comercio.

Literature arrived with “A novel return,” a meeting with writer Sergio Galarza, while cultural journalism was the topic of conversation with journalist Fietta Jarque. Football also had its space with “Literature of the kick. Football books published by El Comercio,” in a talk with Miguel Villegas, editor of Deporte Total and author of Pienso en Tri.
The last café was dedicated to cinema and brought together critic Ricardo Bedoya to discuss the most recent publications dedicated to this art. Added to this were talks about the recovery of Supercholo, with Víctor Aguilar and Javier Prado, and a meeting with readers at the Book Vivant bookstore along with Guillermo Rivas. Thus, between a front page and conversations that open debates of the present, El Comercio always finds at the fair a different way to approach its readers through memory, journalism, and culture.
