The New York Police shot a woman this Monday in the touristy Times Square who stabbed two people and left them seriously injured, according to local media.

The attacker, who apparently had mental health issues, and the two victims have been taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, reports ABC7 channel, citing police sources.

Authorities are investigating the incident, which was initially reported as an armed robbery but now appears to have been random and related to the attacker’s mental health.
The event took place right in Times Square, near 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue, an area usually crowded with tourists, and was temporarily closed to the public.
The victims are a man and a woman, but authorities have not provided further details about them.

As seen in witness videos posted on X, the attacker approached wielding two knives to a group of officers who ordered her to drop the weapons, after which they shot her.
A witness told Pix11 channel that the woman first received a taser shock and, after threatening the officers, two gunshots.
The attacker was dressed casually, wearing jeans, a pink t-shirt, and a crossbody bag, as seen in the videos.
