“Very disappointed to read that Corinthians decided not to honour our agreement in place to extend my contract for 2 more years”, Depay wrote on his social media.
The 32-year-old attacker stated that the renewal had been agreed upon with different areas of the institution, including the presidency.

“Some people decided to break this commitment”
Depay explained that the agreement, according to his version, had been supported by the management and the sporting, legal, and financial departments of Corinthians.
“This renewal was explicitly agreed upon by the president as well as the sporting, legal and financial departments. However, some people decided to break this commitment”, the Dutchman stated.
The forward’s response came hours after Corinthians officially announced that it had decided not to extend his contract, citing reasons exclusively related to the club’s economic situation.
