In a solemn ceremony, the National Jury of Elections (JNE) today delivers to Keiko Fujimori her credentials as president of the Republic elect for the 2026-2031 term.

During the session, which begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Gran Teatro Nacional, in San Borja, the JNE also delivers credentials to Luis Galarreta (first vice president elect) and Miguel Torres (second vice president elect).

The ceremony begins. On the honor table are the full members of the JNE, chaired by Roberto Burneo. Also present at the honor table is President José María Balcázar.

11:20 a.m.
The president of the JNE, Roberto Burneo, welcomes the Congress decision to approve a supplementary credit, which includes an allocation for the regional and municipal elections in October. He added that there are almost 100 thousand candidates running for more than 13 thousand positions.
Burneo stated that the JNE learned a lesson after the incidents of the first round. He also said that this experience will serve as a guide for the line of action for the regional and municipal elections in October.

On Friday the 3rd, the JNE proclaimed the results of the second round that declared the Fuerza Popular ticket led by Keiko Fujimori the winner.
Since that day, the president-elect has held meetings with politicians and authorities and maintains coordination with her team in view of the appointment of her first cabinet, which should be sworn in this July 28, after the handover ceremony in Parliament.
According to sources from El Comercio, Galarreta is one of the main candidates Fujimori is considering to lead the cabinet.
On Monday, the president met with Carlos Espá, lawyer and former presidential candidate of SíCreo, who in recent days has been mentioned as a future foreign minister.
