Debates ahead of the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections kick off this Tuesday, September 8. The National Jury of Elections (JNE) has scheduled a series of meetings between the candidates participating in the upcoming elections, aiming to promote informed citizen participation.

The first day will take place in the electoral setting of Junín, and from the following day, the agenda will continue with candidates from other regions of the country.
On September 9, debates will be held for Ica, Moquegua, and Cusco, while Piura will have sessions on September 9 and 10. Debates for Tumbes, Huancavelica, and San Martín are also scheduled for September 10.
The schedule will continue over the following weeks. On September 11, meetings are planned for Apurímac, La Libertad, and Tacna; on the 14th, for Áncash, Ayacucho, and Arequipa; and on the 15th, for Loreto.
Additionally, the JNE has scheduled debates for Lambayeque and Madre de Dios on September 15 and 16, while Callao and Ucayali will have their session on the 16th. Huánuco will participate on September 17.
One of the most anticipated meetings will be for Lima Provinces, scheduled for September 17 and 18. Meanwhile, Cajamarca, Pasco, and Puno will hold their debate on the 18th, and Amazonas on September 19.
The calendar will conclude with Metropolitan Lima, whose debates are scheduled for September 21 and 22.
According to the JNE, the debates will be broadcast live through the open television signal of each region, as well as on the web platform Informed Vote and the social media of the electoral body.
