Lamborghini presented its plug-in hybrid model Revuelto SV (‘SuperVeloce’ in Italian or super fast) during the ‘Monterey Car Week’ event in California, United States. The CEO of the Italian company, Stephan Winkelmann, states that 1,963 units will be manufactured – which coincides with the year the company was founded – of this supercar and deliveries will begin next year.

Hybrid
Lamborghini considers hybrid technology as a medium-term solution, Winkelmann says. But adoption also takes into account the emotional connection of its customers with the luxury and speed brand.
Thus, there is already greater acceptance from customers for electrified technology, the executive indicates, as well as the work Lamborghini has done on plug-in hybrid models and with V8 engines, as is the case with the super SUV Urus SE and the supercar Temerarario.
The Italian manufacturer does not see the hybrid engine as a bridging technology. This is because it increases the power of the vehicles so that they have greater speed and safety, and people’s focus is on driving the ‘SuperVeloce’.
“You don’t buy a Lamborghini because you need one, but because you want to make a dream come true. We don’t sell mobility, but dreams. We must bet on technological innovation, but this has to be linked to the desires of the customers,” he specified.
In that sense, Winkelmann comments that, due to this emotional connection, at this time there is still no interest from customers in a 100% electric model.
On the other hand, for this year Lamborghini plans to start operations in the Dominican Republic.
