Petro-Perú and lost investments: an analysis of recent financial bailouts
Authorized transfers to cover loans, guarantees, lines of credit, or equity contributions to Petro-Perú saw a notable increase during the last five years of political instability. Between 2022 and 2025, the government issued eight supreme decrees that transferred US$4.764 billion to the state oil company.
