Two workers who were trapped in a tunnel of the Trishuli 3A hydropower project, in Nepal, were rescued alive this Friday, ten days after the devastating floods, while emergency teams continued searching for other people believed to remain inside.
The survivors were identified as Sanjay Sah and Kabir Maharjan, according to officials involved in the rescue operation.

Nepalese teams had heard voices coming from inside the tunnel, raising hopes of finding more survivors, reported this Friday Ram Neupane, a deputy and engineer participating in the operation.
Neupane explained that the teams heard voices inside and from that moment intensified efforts to reach the trapped people.
“The rescue team has received information that human voices are heard from inside. The rescue teams of the Nepal Army and Armed Police have entered the tunnel and intensified the operation,” Neupane wrote on Facebook.
The deputy assured that the rescuers had confirmed that the voices came from more than one person and that they managed to establish brief communication with those inside.
According to Neupane, the teams shouted inside “do not be afraid, we are rescuing you,” to which they received a response of “okay.”
The first reports collected by the Independent Association of Energy Producers of Nepal indicated that 42 workers and employees had been trapped in the underground plant of the project, with a capacity of 60 megawatts.
The Trishuli 3A hydropower project is located in the Nuwakot district, north of Kathmandu, one of the areas hit by the floods.
The operation is part of the extensive search device deployed after the floods and landslides that struck Nepal on August 26 and left hundreds dead and thousands missing.
The rescue of Sah and Maharjan comes ten days after the disaster, when the chances of finding survivors had decreased and much of the operations were already focused on recovering bodies and identifying victims.
