Zendaya proves once again that when it comes to a red carpet, she is the news. For the latest premiere of La Odisea, the actress appeared in a stunning white dress with enormous wings signed by “Materias Fecales.” Yes, you read that right. “Materias Fecales.” Although that is just the name translated into Spanish, the brand is actually called Matières Fécales, a French expression that literally means “fecal matter” and which during its early years was also internationally known as Fecal Matter. Behind it are Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, two of the most disruptive creatives of the new generation of fashion.

With this look, Zendaya put the finishing touch on a flawless promotional tour for La Odisea, Christopher Nolan’s new film inspired by Homer’s epic poem. Throughout the different premieres, the actress has turned every public appearance into an extension of the film’s universe, using fashion to reinforce the image of her character. In this adaptation, she plays Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and strategy, and the winged dress seemed like a reinterpretation of that mythological figure: ethereal and almost divine.
But behind this dress there is also a story that explains why Zendaya and her stylist, Law Roach, are considered one of the most influential duos in the industry.

Law revealed that he saw this design more than two years ago, when it was part of Matières Fécales’ debut collection, and immediately knew it had to be for Zendaya. He asked the designers to reserve the piece exclusively for her and, during all that time, the dress was not lent to any other celebrity. It remained carefully stored until the perfect moment to come to light: the promotional tour of La Odisea.
That kind of decision shows that when it comes to Zendaya and Law Roach, nothing is casual. Every public appearance is carefully thought out. No wonder they are the kings of “method dressing.”
The promotional tour of La Odisea has been a perfect example of this. In London, the actress surprised with a spectacular Schiaparelli Haute Couture design presented just hours before on the runway. In Paris, she opted for a custom Louis Vuitton dress, as well as reviving a historic Givenchy Haute Couture design created by Alexander McQueen in 1997. Each look has dialogued with the mythological universe of the film, consolidating one of the best promotional tours we have seen in recent years.
Matières Fécales: the new face of avant-garde design
Although its name may seem simply a provocation, Matières Fécales is one of the most interesting creative proposals in current fashion.
The brand was founded by Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, a couple both in life and in the creative process. Before dedicating themselves to fashion design, they both developed careers as visual artists and performers, building an unmistakable aesthetic identity: completely shaved heads, facial prosthetics, gothic makeup, and characters that exist between science fiction and performance art.

Their work questions traditional standards of beauty, identity, the body, and the way society defines what it considers beautiful. Their collections combine a strong conceptual load with high couture technical execution, dark romanticism, and inevitable references to the late Alexander McQueen.
Their collection “The 1%,” recently presented, was one of the most talked-about of the season.
The night also left other great appearances. Anne Hathaway once again demonstrated the elegance that characterizes her with a flawless Prada look, while Lupita Nyong’o dazzled with a sophisticated golden dress that reaffirmed her place among Hollywood’s best-dressed women. However, once again it was Zendaya who dominated the conversation.
