Raised in Callao, Alessandra Rivera found from a very young age in music, movement, and acting a natural form of expression. “I grew up in Callao, where art was breathed in every corner,” notes the multidisciplinary artist, whose training and artistic sensitivity were marked from the beginning by a constant vocation that guided her personal and professional trajectory.

Her work integrates performance, musical theater, dance, and scenic creation, with a line deeply linked to the migrant experience and Latin American cultural identity.

Her story is also marked by a decisive personal experience: her mother’s chronic illness, a situation that influenced her relationship with time, care, and memory, elements that currently permeate her stage work.

During the pandemic, her connection with art was consolidated as a central axis of her personal and professional development.

There was a moment when art stopped being a choice and became a vital axis,” she points out. “On stage I find a way to process what cannot always be said in words.”

Later, she obtained a scholarship to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York through the Performing Arts program directed by Stephanie Cayo.

New York forced me to rebuild myself as an artist and as a person,” Rivera states. Since her arrival in the United States, she has developed her career in performance and cabaret spaces such as Don’t Tell Mama and The Reverie Room, building a bilingual stage language with a strong Latin presence.

One of the most significant moments of this stage was her performance of “Immortal,” from the Peruvian musical La Mariscala, bringing national repertoire to the New York stage.

At the same time, she is part of the dance company Rumbamena, directed by the Peruvian artist Ximena Salgado, where she explores reinterpretations of Latin dances through movement and stage theatricality.

Her integration into the New York circuit also led her to join ArtPlus Producers, a platform led by cultural manager Jenny Prada that promotes the development of Latin American artists toward international markets such as New York, London, and Madrid. Currently, Rivera serves as head of creative projects at ArtPlus Producers.

Her recent trajectory includes her participation in the Revolución Latina Beyond Workshop Series, the Broadway Green Alliance Concert in Times Square, as well as readings of new musicals such as Cero en Conducta, by Mario Mendoza and Sergio Cavero, in a bilingual version.

She also debuted in the Latin independent circuit with the play En el Borde, presented at Teatro SEA and produced together with ArtPlus Producers.

In 2025, the death of her mother marked a turning point in her personal and artistic life. “The promise I made to her was my drive to keep going,” she says. This event reinforced her connection with art as a space of memory, continuity, and transformation.

Today, Alessandra Rivera is part of a generation of Peruvian artists who develop their careers from migration and identity, building bridges between Peru and the stages of New York.
