A new attack on transportation occurred yesterday, Sunday, July 19, when around 10 p.m., an interprovincial bus from the company CIVA was shot at by extortionists on the Panamericana Norte highway, near the Tres Postes stop, Los Olivos district.
According to various media, four criminals on two motorcycles fired at the unit that was running the Lima-Chiclayo route. One of the bullets hit the bus windshield, in the driver’s cabin area; fortunately, no injuries were reported.

RPP indicated that after the attack, the National Police of Peru (PNP) managed to capture two of those responsible for this crime, who were found with a firearm, which will be examined to determine if it was used in the extortion attack.
After the incident, the vehicle and its passengers were taken to the Laura Caller police station, while the PNP began investigations to identify those responsible and their accomplices.

Interprovincial transport association against extortions
Through a statement, the Interprovincial Passenger Transport Association by Bus (COTRAP APOIP) expressed its total rejection and outrage at the growing wave of criminal violence attacking formal transportation following recent attacks in Puente Piedra against two units of the Cruz del Sur and Norte companies, where a driver was injured.
In the same vein, they warned the Executive that they will evaluate the suspension of interprovincial transport service “as an extreme measure to protect the lives of our workers and passengers.”
“Formal transport cannot continue operating under threat,” they told the media and state entities.
