In recent years, the National Superintendence of University Higher Education has established various licensing standards and requirements that higher education institutions must meet, whether in the quality of their professors or their facilities, with the aim of reversing the deficiencies in university education. In this context, Sunedu officially announced the resumption of the licensing process for the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University (UIGV), which allows it to continue its evaluation to define its authorization. This measure comes after six years of the denial issued, opening a new possibility for the institution to overcome all previously identified observations. In the development of this note, we provide you with more details about it.

WHY IS THE INCA GARCILASO DE LA VEGA UNIVERSITY RETURNING TO THE LICENSING PROCESS?
In October 2019, Sunedu denied the institutional licensing of the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University after detecting non-compliance with 31 of the 55 required quality indicators. Despite the reconsideration appeals filed by the university, the decision was ratified in December of the same year. Thus, on April 30, through Board Resolution No. 0017-2026-SUNEDU-CD, the suspension of the institutional licensing procedure of the UIGV was lifted, which was initiated following the submission of the Institutional Licensing Request corresponding to File No. 052836-2023-SUNEDU-TD, submitted on November 2, 2023.

After this, it does not imply that Sunedu automatically grants the license, but quite the opposite, as they will have to demonstrate compliance with the eight Basic Quality Conditions required for the provision of university higher education services. That is, aspects such as infrastructure, institutional management, financial sustainability, and academic conditions will be evaluated. That is not all; the transparency of their internal processes and their capacity to ensure the sustainability of their operations in the long term will also be analyzed. Finally, the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University seeks to recover its licensing after the reactivation of the process, so the final decision will be in the hands of the body, which will evaluate whether the institution meets the required quality standards, as shared by Diario Correo.
