The operations of the Talara Refinery are temporarily halted due to the concurrence of two factors. On one hand, the restriction in the supply of crude oil, derived from the company’s current liquidity conditions; and on the other, the temporary closure of the port facilities of Talara Bay, ordered by the Port Authority due to anomalous wave conditions, reported Petro-Perú.

In this context, the company began on Tuesday, July 28, at 6:00 p.m., the coordinated, safe, and sequential shutdown of the refinery’s processing units. They also indicated that the measure adopted by the Maritime Authority prevented the unloading operations of crude oil since Monday, July 27, a circumstance that coincided with a crude supply scheme adjusted to the company’s financial availability.
Petro-Perú expects that once maritime conditions are restored and the port facilities are reopened, estimated for July 31, the unloading of imported crude oil will proceed, which will allow recovering the necessary inventories to start the commissioning maneuvers of the processing units from August 5 onward.

During this period, maintenance work will also be carried out opportunely on various industrial services of the Talara Refinery, including the seawater system, the closed cooling circuit, and electrical cubicles, with the purpose of strengthening the reliability of operations.
Finally, Petro-Perú specified that, to date, it has sufficient fuel inventories to normally meet the demand of customers it supplies through its network of sales plants and terminals, guaranteeing the continuity of supply to the market served by the company.
