A total of 6,342 girls, boys, and adolescents in orphanhood in Puno receive the Economic Assistance for Orphanhood, a subsidy that represents a state investment of S/ 5,036,800, as reported by the executive director of the National Integral Program for Family Welfare (Inabif), Melina Locatelli Alfaro, during a supervision in the area.

The official visited various Residential Care Centers (CAR) in the region with the aim of evaluating protection services and optimizing care for the vulnerable population.

Among the inspected centers are the Sacred Heart of Jesus Home in Juliaca, which cares for 17 children aged 6 to 12, the CAR Our Lady of Fatima Home, which houses 60 girls and adolescents, the CAR San Martín de Porres, with 23 residents, and the CAR Rijchariy, which provides protection to seven adolescent girls.
During the visits, Locatelli spoke with the technical teams and the resident minors to gather their needs and improvement proposals.

The executive director of Inabif also explained that the direct purpose of this economic subsidy is to improve the quality of life of the beneficiary minors by supporting their basic needs for food, education, and general well-being.

Additionally, as part of the work agenda, a meeting was held with the head of the Puno Police Region, General PNP Jorge Tomás Guardia Riveros, and local police commissioners.
In this meeting, the authorities agreed to establish new channels of inter-institutional communication and form a coordination group comprising the directors of the CARs and police personnel, with the aim of expediting responses to emergency situations.
