Peruvian Oscar Ravello will fight next Tuesday, September 15, on the streaming program “Dana White’s Contender Series,” which rewards the winners with a contract with the UFC, the most important mixed martial arts promoter in the world.
Ravello, 27 years old, will face Brazilian Igor Cavalcanti in a three-round middleweight (83.9 kg) bout, a division higher than he usually competes in.
“[The fight] is going to be very interesting. The strategy is set: he is a tall, good, strong guy, but I am faster and have more skills than him to beat him,” he told El Comercio.
Ravello, known as ‘The Punisher,’ has a professional record of 13 wins, three losses, and one draw. He has finished 54% of his fights by knockout or technical knockout, 23% by submission, and 23% by judges’ decision.
His opponent, meanwhile, has 13 wins, 10 of them by knockout or technical knockout, and three by submission. In 2024, the Brazilian fought in the “Contender Series” but lost by decision.

“I never underestimate my rivals. Throughout my career, I have faced tough fighters, bloody, solid, difficult matchups. Some have taken a while, but most have ended disastrously in my favor,” Ravello asserted.
Although the Peruvian acknowledged that “my body type is not suited” to compete at middleweight, he stated that “the negotiations happened that way and it was the perfect path to enter” the program.
For now, his only goal is to defeat Cavalcanti and sign the contract with UFC, where – he emphasizes – he wants to “make history, seek that title in the category I want and deserve to be in, be world champion.”
Oscar Ravello’s fight on “Dana White’s Contender Series” will be broadcast live on Tuesday, September 15 through the Paramount+ app.
