During a meeting with journalists prior to the European Union (EU) and Western Balkans summit held in Montenegro, Tusk said that the incidents in Romania were not “a surprise” for Poland.

“As you know, we are prepared. I already warned our European partners many weeks ago that various incidents, escalations, sometimes intentional, sometimes not, could be expected, but that the situation is heading towards escalation and greater tensions,” he stated.
“That is why we must be prepared for it, and Poland is working to be so,” Tusk emphasized.
Romania reported today the explosion of a naval drone near the port of Constanta (east), which Ukrainian authorities later recognized as their own, although they claimed it had been diverted by Russia using electronic warfare methods.

Subsequent search operations located three naval drones in total, which led to the activation of emergency plans and the temporary evacuation of coastal areas due to the detected risk.
The European Commission (EC) has described these events as a direct consequence of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Late last month, a Russian drone crossed into eastern Romania from Ukrainian airspace and hit an apartment building in the city of Galati, injuring two people.
